Child Care Study (WUSC)

The NGO Coalition on Child Rights (CCR) conducted a comprehensive baseline study under the Action for Paid Childcare Sector Transformation Act Project. This study aimed to generate foundational data and insights to inform the project’s interventions. The study was conducted in the cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe, the research specifically targeted key stakeholders within the paid childcare ecosystem. These included paid caregivers, owners and managers of childcare institutions, parents and guardians who utilize paid childcare services, relevant government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as financial service providers. The findings will guide World University of Canada (WUSC) and its partner Women Legal Resource Centre (WORLEC) in designing context-specific, evidence-based strategies to strengthen the paid childcare sector and advocate for its formalization, improved standards, and greater support from both public and private actors.
